Nettle Soup
Inspired by Gill's recipe for nettle soup we went out for a nettle hunt. For once we didn't have any in our garden, so we headed off to the churchyard.
Here are my two girls rootling for nettles - wearing sturdy gloves ;0)

It was great - we got out in the fresh air and got rosy cheeks, enjoyed the beautiful countryside we live in, saw lots of birds and heard them singing their hearts out, had some excellent chats and got some odd looks, but hey we're used to those ;0) and got a delicious dinner out of it.

Tech, you got a blog! This is *definitely* something to celebrate! It's going straight in my fave blogs list.
And I'm so glad you're into food foraging - it's great to have someone to discuss it with!
(You've no IDEA the weird looks I used to get when I first started doing it back in the yuppie 80s. People kept asking whether I was a gipsy! I even caused a car crash once, picking bilberries up on the moor - they were slowing down to see what I was doing & knocked a wall down ROFL!!!)
Heh what an ace blog idea. I'll be visiting often!
I love bilberries sooo much. We used to pick loads when I lived in Tod as we were right near lots of bushes(the only happy memory of my time in Cornholme!!).
I'll be taking food for free to bed with me tonight ;o)
Tech, you want my dock pudding recipe?
OOh yes please Gill :0D
Funnily enough I was eyeing up dock leaves when we were on out today. Also saw some berries that I wondered whether or not were edible! LOL funny how suddenly your outlook on the everyday changes!
This has inspired me to dig out my 'Wild Foods' book. Hugh F-W, eat your heart out! :)
Ah I was reading the riverside cottage forum last night! Must stick it up in the links thing at some point, it looked quite interesting - to a novice at any rate.
I'll type it into an email to you now Tech
Can I have the dock pudding recipe as well :-) One thing I have lots of is dock leaves... (just don't have the nettles to go with them).
I like this blog.
We used to do blackberrying and bilberrying, probably on the same moor you do Gill. In fact, possibly at the same time you were...
